The 8-speed M Steptronic Sport transmission with Drivelogic offers numerous shifting options: extremely dynamic, particularly comfortable and smooth, fuel-saving. You can shift manually using the gear lever or the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel, or select one of three automatic programmes using Drivelogic.

M xDrive with Active M Differential guarantees maximum traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving, as well as at the racetrack. The optional M specific technology combines the typical agility of a rear-wheel drive with the control of an all-wheel drive. You can choose between the drive variants 4WD, 4WD Sport and – in DSC-off mode – 2WD.

The front of BMW M3 Competition Sedan is characterised by the expressive M kidney grille in a reduced interpretation for maximum dynamic effect. In a frameless design for the first time ever, the completely black kidney grille with horizontal M typical double louvres permits the maximum throughput of cooling air for the high-revving M power unit. Together with the narrow headlights leading towards the kidney grille, the central air inlet with its large trapezoidal design highlights the athletic character of the vehicle.

With its crisply defined proportions and distinctive four-door 3-box design – front, passenger compartment and rear are formally and recognisably separated – the silhouette of the BMW M3 Competition Sedan creates an agile and nimble effect. The black carbon roof and the aerodynamically optimised sill area inspired by motorsport press the silhouette of the vehicle even closer to the road both optically and physically. Together with the M gills featuring model logo and the striking M forged wheels with M Compound brake, the dynamically designed exterior mirrors in typical M double-slat design create additional sporting highlights.

The rear of the BMW M3 Competition Sedan systematically continues the sporty and agile appearance of the side section. Alongside the muscular wheel arches, the broad track width of the M specific axles produces a powerful stance that impressively underlines the performance-oriented ambitions of the sports saloon. Two pairs of typical M twin tailpipes in black chrome and a discreet Gurney flap in black high-gloss underline the exclusive motorsport character of the vehicle.

The manual 6-speed M transmission allows for particularly sporty driving characteristics. It is smooth running, perfectly graduated and features precise, short-throw gearshift. The engine's characteristics can be perfectly utilised in terms of power delivery and efficiency by using the most suitable gear.
 

Perfect for track day – with rear-wheel drive, the vehicle becomes a thoroughbred sports car when DSC is switched off. Thanks to power transmission exclusively to the rear wheels, the vehicle conveys even more emotion at the limit.

The M specific suspension combines consistent lightweight construction with particularly high rigidity, optimised suspension geometry with a wide track and active M differential. Precise response characteristics and feedback from the steering and suspension ensure perfect vehicle control. With the M setup you can adjust the characteristics as required.

The two pairs of twin tailpipes of the BMW M3 Sedan can be clearly seen to protrude from the diffuser in high-gloss black. At the same time, elegant chrome finishers together with the distinctive louvres on the diffuser create a sporty conclusion towards the road.

The multi-adjustable M Sport seats with bucket seat character and partly integrated headrest provide excellent lateral support for you and your front passenger. In addition, the backrest width can be individually adjusted. Their special design with illuminated M3 logo highlights the vehicle's athletic capabilities.

The 8-speed Steptronic sport transmission allows you both comfortable sliding gear changes and a dynamic driving style with very sporty gear changes – automatically and also manually via rocker switch. In SPORT mode and when operating the electronic selector lever (switch: S/M), the gear shifts are configured for maximum performance.

The M Technology package includes an optimised cooling package, which ensures maximum performance even in sporting use. This benefits the engine and the intercooler equally, so that the engine always operates thermally healthy even under high loads.

Enlarged to 100 mm, the tailpipes on either side and the trim with chrome component create a particularly athletic appearance for the rear. Interaction with the large diffuser between the tailpipes and the vertical, recessed reflectors further emphasises the sporty intentions of the vehicle.

The M leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and steering wheel rim in Black 'Walknappa' leather offers an ideal feel and sporty look for a dynamic driving experience.

Sporty yet comfortable: The Sport seats for driver and front passenger provide optimum lateral support with their raised side bolsters and manually adjustable thigh support. The fore-and-aft position and, depending on the equipment, angle of the seat can also be adjusted.

The exclusive door sill finishers with M logo in Silver Grey on the inserts send out a sporty signal as soon as you enter. They provide a visual foretaste of the thrilling driving experience to come that awaits you in the new BMW M340i xDrive Sedan.

M Drive allows the setting, adjustment and storage of the individually preferred DSC mode, the engine, damper, steering and braking characteristics as well as the transmission shifting. It is activated via the red M Drive buttons on the M leather steering wheel.

The M specific instrument cluster offers a particularly precise and focused display of driving data in the SPORT and TRACK modes. In this way, values such as boost pressure or tyre pressure and temperatures are always in view, even on the race track. Operation and configuration is carried out using the M MODE button on the control unit in the centre console.
