The M TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder inline petrol engine features superior power delivery and the striking characteristic M engine sound. Two mono-scroll turbochargers, direct High-Precision Injection, fully variable valve control and variable camshaft control ensure outstanding performance with 375 kW (510 hp) and 650 Nm of torque.
M specific suspension.
The M specific adaptive suspension highlights the vehicle's great dynamic potential. The COMFORT drive mode smooths out uneven road surfaces with ease. M xDrive.

M Servotronic.
In every driving situation, M Servotronic delivers the right steering power, by adjusting to suit the current driving speed. In addition, it delivers a direct and precise steering feel at any speed. The system is specifically calibrated for the M line and offers three different settings that can be selected via the M setup.
M Compound brake.
Thanks to the use of various materials, M Compound brakes achieve outstanding deceleration values and are extremely stable and highly durable. They also weigh less, which has a positive impact on agility, dynamics and acceleration. The optional Black metallic (Blue metallic standard, Red metallic also available) brake calipers with the M designation are the hallmark of these high-performance M specific brakes.
M Sport exhaust system.
The M Sport exhaust system delivers a dynamic sound that can be modified via the integrated exhaust valve mechanism. The SPORT and SPORT+ programmes, which can be selected via the Driving dynamics buttons, are accentuated by an even more intense engine sound, while the comfort-oriented programme prioritises more discreet engine acoustics.
Front design.
The front of the BMW X4 M Competition is characterised by a conspicuously three-dimensional styling with precise lines. At the centre is the distinctive M kidney grille with exclusive double slats in black high-gloss and model logo, which underpins the tremendous potential of this high-performance automobile. Supporting this self-assured impression are narrowly sculpted light tubes with optional BMW Laserlight and the mighty air inlets that complete the lower section of this dynamic impression.

M gear selector switch.
The illuminated M gear selector switch features an M specific switch pattern and excellent operability. In manual "S" mode, the driver can shift gears manually using the selector lever or the gearshift paddles; in "D" mode, shifting occurs automatically. The Drivelogic rocker switch makes selection of three M specific shift programmes possible.

The BMW X4 M40i is powered by a three-litre 6-cylinder inline engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology. With an output of 382 hp, it has a sporty driving performance. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.
M Sport suspension.
M Sport suspension is notable for a more dynamic suspension with tighter damper settings. It also features a moderately higher spring constant and harder stabilisers. Combined together, they result in an even more direct suspension design, which enables a distinctly sporty driving style.
8-speed Steptronic Sport Transmission.
The 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission offers incredibly sporty gear changes. Whether automatic or manual using the selector lever or gearshift paddles – for comfortable coasting or incredibly dynamic driving. In SPORT mode and with the selector lever in the left-hand S/M position, the gear shifts are configured for the maximum performance.
Variable sport steering.
The variable sport steering with Servotronic creates a direct and agile steering response and ensures that less physical effort is required to turn the wheel. It reacts to the angle of the steering wheel with varying steering ratios. This improves handling when driving more dynamically and reduces the effort needed to steer when parking and turning.
M sport differential.
The M sport differential optimises traction and driving stability when changing lanes or accelerating out of a bend, when taking bends at high speeds or on different road surfaces. Traction is optimised with the help of an electronically operated device that reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels.
M Sport brake.
The M Sport brake has four-piston fixed callipers at the front and single-piston floating callipers at the rear in blue (optionally in Red high-gloss) with the M designation is internally ventilated and features large brake discs to ensure an outstanding braking performance.
BMW X4 M40i specific design elements.
Unique design highlights underpin the performance attributes of the BMW X4 M40i both inside and outside. Included among them on the exterior are the M kidney grille with M logo and double slats in black high-gloss and a kidney grille frame in chrome, black M exterior mirrors and 21-inch gloss-lathed M light alloy wheels and exhaust tailpipes with free-form trims in black chrome ‘Two Teeth’ style. In the interior, the M leather steering wheel with distinctive contrast stitching and the sport seats for driver and front passenger create the sporty atmosphere.

In this way, values such as boost pressure or tyre pressure and temperatures are always in view, even on the race track.
