THE EXTERIOR / BUMPERS.

ACCEPTABLE

Scratches or scuffs through the paint that are 2” – 4” in length (non-collision related);

 

Exterior dents with damage 2” – 8” (non-collision related);

 

Minor stone chips;

 

Cleanable road tar;

 

Superficial scuffs/scratches that do not penetrate the paint.

UNACCEPTABLE

Scratches or scuffs through paint greater than 4”;

 

Any dents greater than 8";

 

Broken exterior parts that are not replaced or repaired to manufacturer’s specifications (e.g., misaligned parts, mismatched paint, distorted body panels);

 

Other repairs that do not meet manufacturer’s specifications (e.g., misaligned parts, mismatched paint, distorted body panels, poor previous repair or repaint);

 

Unrepaired collision damage or single-occurrence damages spanning multiple body panels (e.g. vandalism);

 

Buckled, bent, gouged, or deeply scratched bumpers (over 8”);

 

Cracked or punctured bumpers.

If hail damages have a value exceeding $1,000, BMW will NOT waive the excessive wear or use charges owing by the Lessee / Co-Lessee. BMW will NOT waive the excessive wear or use charges owing by the Lessee / Co-Lessee because of mismatched paint or poor quality paint job from a repair.

FRAME AND UNIBODY.

UNACCEPTABLE

Repairs that do not restore the frame or unibody to manufacturer’s specifications;

 

Repairs that do not follow manufacturer’s recommended repair methods (e.g., butt welding);

 

Damage that affects the safety or structural integrity of the frame or unibody (e.g., buckled unibody, channel torn metal, kinked radiator support);

 

Any sheet metal damage to rocker panels.

GLASS AND LAMPS.

ACCEPTABLE

Surface chips to a BMW-approved windshield;

 

Minor chips, bullseyes or cracks to a BMW-approved windshield.

UNACCEPTABLE

Windshield replacement of substandard glass (non-OEM quality);

 

Any windshield replacement that does not have the approved BMW logo displayed in the glass;

 

Excessive scratches as a result of negligence;

 

Damage as a result of a collision.

The interior of your vehicle is subject to chargeable damages if unacceptable wear and use is found.

Minor scuffs to the interior, seats, and soft trim (includes leather, cloth, vinyl leather, plastic, wood, carpets, headliners, vinyl and convertible tops, and weather-stripping seals).

UNACCEPTABLE

Missing interior equipment valued over $200 per item (headrests, remote controls, headphones, etc);

 

Stains that cannot be removed;

 

Any burn holes or singed areas.

WHEELS & TIRES.

Prior to returning your BMW, please confirm all wheels and tires are in acceptable condition. Be aware that any unacceptable damage or modifications are considered chargeable.

Four matching BMW approved tires that meet the vehicle’s original tire specifications (size, load index, speed rating, run-flat) which can be found on the vehicle door B pillar decal and/or within the vehicle’s owner’s manual. BMW approved tires are manufactured by Pirelli®, Continental®, Goodyear®, Dunlop®, Michelin®, Bridgestone® and Hankook®.

 

Minor scuffs to tires that do not affect the safety of the tire;

 

Scratches to the wheel covers, rims, or alloys.

UNACCEPTABLE

Tire specifications and sizes different from the original tires supplied on your vehicle, including incorrect type (e.g. run-flat), and/or a non-approved brand (approved brands are Michelin®, Pirelli®, Bridgestone®, Continental®, Dunlop®, Goodyear®,  and Hankook®);

 

Recapped or retread tires;
 

Tire repair plugs;
 

Bulges or indentations in the sidewall;
 

Snow tires;
 

Flat tires;
 

Any tire damage that affects the safe operation of the vehicle;
 

Mismatched, bent, cracked, or broken wheels, wheel covers, or alloys;
 

Alloy wheel specification, sizes and type (wheel style) different than the vehicle’s original equipment, including painted wheels;

MECHANICAL / ELECTRICAL / ACCESSORIES.

Please be aware that any non-functional electrical components or missing equipment that is standard for your BMW vehicle are considered chargeable.

Missing equipment including, but not limited to, keys, manuals, tablets, and cargo covers;

 

Any vehicle warning lights (engine light, airbag lights, brake service lights, traction control etc.);

 

Incomplete or overdue vehicle maintenance;

 

Non-functioning electrical components (power windows, climate control, iDrive screen and controls, etc);

 

Aftermarket (non-original BMW equipment) parts and accessories, (including spoilers, suspension modifications, exhaust modifications, body panels), trailer hitches, etc.);

 

Installing/loading software updates or changes to the vehicle;

 

Decals or stickers.
