THE EXTERIOR / BUMPERS.

ACCEPTABLE

Scratches or scuffs through the paint that are less than 2” in length;

 

Exterior dents with damage 2" or less (maximum three occurrences per panel);

 

Minor stone chips that affect an area within the 2” inner circle of the Vehicle Condition Evaluator;

 

Cleanable road tar;

 

Superficial scuffs/scratches that do not penetrate the paint.

UNACCEPTABLE

Scratches or scuffs through paint greater than the 2” inner circle of the Vehicle Condition Evaluator;

 

Stone chips that cover an area greater than the 2” inner circle of Vehicle Condition Evaluator;

 

Any dents greater than the 2" inner circle of the Vehicle Condition Evaluator;

 

Broken exterior parts that are not replaced or repaired to manufacturer’s specifications (e.g., misaligned parts, mismatched paint, distorted body panels);

 

Other repairs that do not meet manufacturer’s specifications (e.g., misaligned parts, mismatched paint, distorted body panels, poor previous repair or repaint);

 

Unrepaired collision damage or single-occurrence damages spanning multiple body panels (e.g. vandalism);

 

Exterior paint damage from excessive organic fallout (e.g., insect decomposition, bird droppings), industrial fallout, or atmospheric conditions (e.g., hail damage);

 

Buckled, bent, gouged, or deeply scratched bumpers;

 

Cracked or punctured bumpers.

FRAME AND UNIBODY.

ACCEPTABLE

Damage that does not affect the safety or structural integrity of the frame or unibody;

 

Repairs using manufacturer’s recommended methods that restore the vehicle to original specification;

 

Minor scrapes, gouges, or dents to the frame or unibody.

UNACCEPTABLE

Repairs that do not restore the frame or unibody to manufacturer’s specifications;

 

Repairs that do not follow manufacturer’s recommended repair methods (e.g., butt welding);

 

Damage that affects the safety or structural integrity of the frame or unibody (e.g., buckled unibody, channel torn metal, kinked radiator support);

 

Any sheet metal damage to rocker panels.

GLASS AND LAMPS.

ACCEPTABLE

Minor scratches and bull’s-eyes (without any associated cracks) that are outside of the driver’s wiper arc, less than 1/2", and do not distort or obscure the driver’s view of the road (up to two occurrences);

 

Repairs that do not distort the driver’s view of the road;

 

Surface chips in driver’s wiper arc.

UNACCEPTABLE

Windshield replacement of substandard glass (non-OEM quality);

 

Any windshield replacement that does not have the approved BMW logo displayed in the glass;

 

Windshield that has been polished to remove damage;

 

Star breaks, bull’s-eyes with cracks, or windshield cracks that are larger than 1/2";

 

Any star breaks, bull’s-eyes with cracks, or windshield cracks that are within the driver’s side of the windshield;

 

Any condition that prevents issuance of a valid inspection certificate in the province where the vehicle is returned;

 

Any repair with detectable cracks, regardless of size, that distort or obscure the driver’s view of the road;

 

Punctures that result in water penetration.

Missing interior equipment valued over $200 per item (headrests, remote controls, headphones, etc);

 

Stains that cannot be removed;

 

Any burn holes or singed areas.

WHEELS & TIRES.

Prior to returning your BMW, use your BMW Financial Services Vehicle Condition Evaluator to confirm all wheels and tires are in acceptable condition. Please be aware that any unacceptable damage or modifications are considered chargeable.

ACCEPTABLE

Four matching BMW approved tires that have at least 4/32” of tread depth that also meet the vehicle’s original tire specifications (size, load index, speed rating, run-flat) which can be found on the vehicle door B pillar decal and/or within the vehicle’s owner’s manual. BMW approved tires are manufactured by Pirelli®, Continental®, Goodyear®, Dunlop®, Michelin®, Bridgestone®, and Hankook®.

 

Wheel upgrades purchased and installed at lease inception;

 

Minor scuffs to tires that fall within the inner circle of the Vehicle Condition Evaluator that do not affect the safety of the tire;

 

Minor surface scratches or scuffs to wheel covers or alloys that are under 4 inches in length.

UNACCEPTABLE

Tires that have less than 4/32" tread depth;

 

Tire specifications and sizes different from the original tires supplied on your vehicle, including incorrect type (e.g. run-flat), and/or a non-approved brand (approved brands are Michelin®, Pirelli®, Bridgestone®, Continental®, Dunlop®, Goodyear®, and Hankook®.);

 

Recapped or retread tires;

 

Tire repair plugs;

 

Bulges or indentations in the sidewall;

 

Snow tires;

 

Flat tires;

 

Any tire damage that affects the safe operation of the vehicle;

 

Mismatched, bent, cracked, or broken wheels, wheel covers, or alloys;

 

Alloy wheel specification, sizes and type (wheel style) different than the vehicle’s original equipment, including painted wheels;

 

Scuffs/scratches to wheel covers/alloys that fall outside of the 4" outer circle of the Vehicle Condition Evaluator;

 

Deep scratches or gouging to wheel covers or alloys, regardless of length.

Any vehicle warning lights (engine light, airbag lights, brake service lights, traction control, etc.);

 

Incomplete or overdue vehicle maintenance;

 

Non-functioning electrical components (power windows, climate control, iDrive screen and controls, etc);

 

Aftermarket (non-original BMW equipment) parts and accessories, performance parts, (including spoilers, suspension modifications, exhaust modifications, body panels, trailer hitches, etc.);

 

Installing/loading software updates or changes to the vehicle;

 

Decals or stickers.
